I loved this story and how unexpectedly good it was. Jude “Lucky”
Lucketti is a big tough tattooed construction worker who keeps rescuing a
high school girl 16 years younger than him and barely 18, Skylar
Timmons. Finally he realizes she lives a miserable life in a hoarded
home with no access to essentials. So he does what any good guy would
do and offers to marry her – in name only. Well, that doesn’t last
long. While the age gap is significant and it has a small forbidden
aspect to it, Lucky is a great character and their relationship does not
feel forced or groomed, but just right!
This story was truly beautiful and loved the humor and writing in
regards to some serious topics. Rather than a dark romance, this story
is light and love and beauty. I picked out some of my favorite quotes
below!
“Connecting with someone doesn’t always have to be pretty and beautiful. It can be raw and ugly and infected with need. I want all of him—the good and the bad.” Don’t Kiss the Bride by Carian Cole
“Jude has a no-getting-attached rule. I recognize all the signs because I also have that rule. However, it doesn’t seem to be working for us. Our rules are breaking themselves.” Don’t Kiss the Bride by Carian Cole
“Later, when we’re home, we take Cassie in the backyard to run around, and Skylar puts Gus in a cat stroller and pushes her around the perimeter of the property. I stand on the back patio smoking, wondering how I ended up with a teen bride pushing a cat in a baby stroller across my yard.” Don’t Kiss the Bride by Carian Cole
“I nod and watch him walk casually back to his truck. How dare he look just as sexy from the back as he does from the front. I wish I didn’t want him, but I still do. So damn much it hurts.” Don’t Kiss the Bride by Carian Cole
“You ain’t tall enough to get on this ride, Sparkles.” A flirty smile plays on her lips. “You talking about the bike, or you? ’Cuz I think I can handle both.” Don’t Kiss the Bride by Carian Cole
“Marriage—being in love—is a choice to stay every day, and keep staying, no matter what. You don’t lie, you don’t cheat, you don’t leave, and you don’t give up. You stay.” Don’t Kiss the Bride by Carian Cole
