★★★★★   Ivan by Sophie Lark is a great introduction to the Underworld series, and to mafia style romances in general. Detailing the story of Sloane, a woman raised by a CIA agent who takes contract kill jobs and is hired to kill Ivan, the head of the Bratva family. Attempting to poison him in his sleep, he catches her and holds her hostage…and she likes it.  “I was thinking you should send him a fruit basket,” Sloane says innocently. “After all, if he hadn’t hired me to kill you, we never would have met.” Ivan by Sophie Lark Ivan and Sloane see each other as equals and her cheeky attitude toward Ivan carries the story along nicely and adds a humorous touch to their sizzling romance. There is spanking and light BDSM elements to the story. "It’s like she’s determined to do the opposite of what I want at all times.
